We came here for our last dinner in Kyoto because we saw they accommodate for gluten free. The meal was very good and the service was even better. The server and chef were very aware and accommodating of my allergy. We got the spring rolls, omurice, teriyaki chicken, pasta (not gf), and creme brulee, which were all tasty. Overall a very warm environment and a great place to eat out in Kyoto.

We had 3 nights in Kyoto and ate here for 2 of them - we would have eaten there the 3rd night but it was closed. We loved it so so much we weren't interested in trying anywhere else. The staff are absolutely delightful, the atmosphere cozy which it made comfortable and quiet but the food - WOW!!!!! Words really cannot do it justice . Great menu with a selection of western & Japanese options. I am still dreaming of their Japanese fried rice!! It was just amazing. When I got to Tokyo I kept ordering fried rice even in some super expensive places - hoping to have the same experience /taste and nothing even came close. I will definitely be back & have already recommended to a few friends heading to Kyoto soon. Thank you to the lovely staff & cook for the fantastic experience - it really made our Kyoto visit great.

We loved this little gem! Great food - Teriyaki fish and chicken were so good. And try the tofu salad .. it’s really good!

Great place, very niche and popular, you do need to book but usually fit in the day after. Amazing flavours, not too large portions but still make you feel well full. Great English fluent staff, definitely recommend. Fish teriyaki was delicious (on photo) and recommend the variety plate of appetizers

My husband and I came here because I heard there were great vegetarian options (I’m vegetarian, my husband isn’t). Little did I know I would have one of my favourite meals in Japan, with the most incredible, friendly, warm service. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Drinks were awesome. The server and the chefs were all so kind and wonderful. 100/10 would recommend!

One of my favorite meals in Japan so far! Went here for the carbonara udon, which was absolutely insane I could eat that every day. The Caesar salad was off the chaaaaiiiiin!! And the famous chicken teriyaki did not disappoint! The beef though OMG sooooo juicy and soft and very reasonable prices!!! Lovely staff, what a great place! Definitely stop in if you are in the area. I'd come here every week if I was local! Thank you Sugarhill!!!

We had the loveliest time at Sugarhill! We came here due to the possibility to get some vegetarian options for me while my partner was able to try the wagyu steak and the staff were all so kind and helpful with everything! We tried the omurice, the vegetable carbonara and the steak, and then got the creme brulee for dessert. Everything was a 10/10 and we would definitely recommend to everyone! The atmosphere was also very cozy. We would definitely recommend getting a reservation though, since walk-ins are welcome but they are often full for the night.

10/10! Best food we ate on our Japan trip. Wish we were in Kyoto longer so we can eat here again!! The staff are so nice and friendly and happy to chat with us. The atmosphere is also great, really nice and calming, perfect lighting and music choice, feels very homely. A meal we will remember for a long time.

Love, love, love this place. Went here our second night in Kyoto and we had to go back before we left, which we did. Had the teriyaki chicken the first time and the chicken was done perfectly. I'm going to admit though that the potatoes were the star of my meal as someone who loves potatoes (especially mashed). The second time, I tried the fried chicken and once again, the chicken was done perfectly. I enjoyed the salad that was accompanied with it as well as I had been craving salad on this trip for awhile (it's been a week). The service is absolutely top notch as the server was attentive and we were given some great recommendations of places to visit while here. I'm far from a foodie but I would definitely visit this place again if I'm in Kyoto or a neighbouring city. By far, the best food place I've visited while visiting Japan (this includes Tokyo and Osaka).
